About ELS
ELS Language Center Malaysia (ELS Malaysia) is a franchise of ELS Language Centers in the United States.
It founded in 1990, is the country premier English language training center, offering an unrivaled combination of university-town and city-center study locations, as well as high academic standards and professionally trained instructors.
ELS History Timeline
For over 55 years, ELS has been providing English language education.
1957:
ELS Inc., USA was established to provide English language training to US government agencies such as the Agency for International Development (AID) and the US Information Services (USIS).
1961:
The first ELS center was opened in Washington, D.C. ELS’ strong relationships with universities, as well as their loyal network of counselling agencies worldwide, have created pathways for international students to pursue tertiary studies in the United States and other countries.
1978:
ELS Inc. established a new International Division to expand ELS English teaching activities internationally. In Tokyo, Japan, ELS opened its first overseas language school.
1990:
ELS Language Centers Malaysia opened its first location.
2012:
ELS Malaysia opened its first on-campus center at University Putra Malaysia (UPM), a top-tier public university in Malaysia. Simultaneously, UPM formally recognized ELS Proficiency Standards as proof of English proficiency for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
2014:
ELS Malaysia received the title of Brand of the Year in the English Education (Malaysia) category at the 2014 World Branding Awards.
2015:
ELS Malaysia won the prestigious 5-Star Quality Standards Award for Private Education Institutions (SKIPS).
University Technology Malaysia (UTM) officially started accepting ELS Proficiency Standards as a replacement for the IELTS and TOEFL for admission to its undergraduate and graduate programs.
2016:
Frost & Sullivan Malaysia presented the Language Centre Company of the Year award to ELS Malaysia.
2019:
The National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS), Australia, accredited ELS, making it the first institution in Malaysia to do so.
2020:
The National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS) of Australia has granted ELS the Quality Online Provider designation for their online English programs.
2022:
The National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS) in Australia has given ELS Malaysia the Online Delivery Award in acknowledgment of the high caliber of our online Certified Intensive English Program (CIEP Online).
2023:
ELS Malaysia’s Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP) holds a prestigious recognition from the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. This recognition establishes CIEP as the official English language standard for both public and private universities across Malaysia. This means that students who complete CIEP can be confident in their English language proficiency, ensuring their readiness for success in higher education within the country.

The ELS Intensive English Program Certificate (CIEP) is accepted by a large number of prestigious higher education institutions in Malaysia and offers great facilities.
Over 3,000 kids receive English instruction from ELS each year to study in Malaysia.
