About the University
National University of Malaysia, which is known as University Kebangsaan Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Malay) and abbreviated as UKM, which is founded on May 18, 1970, has succeeded in producing intellectuals and scholars who are among the pride of the country, as well as realizing the aim of its forefathers to make Bahasa Melayu the language of study and scholarship.
17,500 undergraduate students and 5,105 postgraduate students, 1,368 of them are international students from 35 different countries, are enrolled.
Initially housing three faculties, the institution has since blossomed into a comprehensive entity.
With 13 faculties, three renowned research institutes, and the establishment of two business entities, UKM Holdings Sdn. Bhd. and UKM Technology Sdn. Bhd., it has grown both in stature and scope.
It has evolved into a formidable research institution, engaging in multifaceted research across various domains and overseeing the operation of numerous research centers.
UKM is acting to address the changes in the academic environment that are currently occurring. One is using online learning to get students ready for the demands of the new economic needs through creative teaching and a forward-thinking curriculum.
