IBDP Years 1 and 2
At SIS, there is an IBDP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Program). The IBDP, a ‘balanced pre-university program,’ readies students for international university and/or professional study.
More than 50 years of educational research and experience have been used to inform its curriculum approaches.
The IBDP successfully raises pupils’ worldwide awareness, global mindedness, and readiness for living in a world that is changing quickly without having any direct ties to any country curriculum or culture.
The IBDP gives students the chance to advance their knowledge and abilities in the academic areas they have selected while also learning to respect others, serve their society, and value diverse languages, cultures, and points of view.
Along with improving their abilities for independent research, self-directed learning, and time management, students acquire functional fluency in at least two languages.

IBDP Academics

The Ontario and IB curricula are aligned, allowing SIS students to seamlessly transition from the Ontario Grade 10 program into the IBDP, shortening the secondary pathway or time of study for an IB Diploma.

IB developments focus on followings:
- Th features of the IBDP give students a solid foundation for success in higher level studies and cause universities all over the world to accept IBDP graduates. Students develop breadth and depth of knowledge in six subject groups as well as research, independent study, and time-management skills.
- Students achieve functional fluency in at least two languages, which allows IBDP graduates to have a deeper appreciation and understanding of other cultures, including their own. This aspect raises students’ international mindedness and global awareness to a level that other pre-university programs.
- Students develop into knowledgeable, inquisitive, critically-thinking, open-minded people who use creative, inter-disciplinary, and multi-disciplinary approaches to knowledge construction and problem solving.
