Scholarship in Malaysia 2023-2024 | Fully Funded

According to the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, there are two scholarship programs are available for the academic year 2022/2023. You can check your eligibility, deadlines, how to apply, terms and conditions, etc. in the descriptions below.

Malaysia Government scholarships 2023/2024

Malaysian government scholarship includes two scholarships, Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) and Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP). We will describe both in details below.

Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS)

The Malaysian Government launched the Malaysia International Scholarship (MIS) program to entice great minds from all over the world to pursue postgraduate courses in Malaysia. From 17 April 2023 to 18 May 2023, the call for applications for the academic year 2023/2024 will be available.

Benefits of MIS

1. This scholarship is for all tuition fees.

2. In addition to tuition fees, monthly living of RM 1,500.00 will be paid.

Notes:
Successful applicants are asked to arrange their own travel to Malaysia (non-financial provisions). The Malaysian government will not cover travel expenditures.

Who can Apply?

Graduates from MIS 2023 receiving nations who:

1. want to pursue full-time postgraduate studies (Masters/PhD) in Malaysia; or

2. are already pursuing full-time postgraduate studies in Malaysian public universities and selected private higher educational institutions.

What do you need to Apply?

Applicants must supply all required information and have the mandatory documents indicated below scanned and saved in PDF format:

i. Application Form;
ii. A certified copy of Passport as evidence of nationality
(with a minimum validity of 6 months);
iii. A certified copy of Academic Transcript(s)

iv. A certified copy of English Proficiency test result (IELTS / TOEFL);
v. Letter of Recommendation from two (2) referees;
vi. Endorsement Form;
vii. Admission letter from Malaysian university/higher
education institute (if applicable);
viii. Curriculum Vitae; and
ix. Research Proposal

Eligibility Criteria

For their applications to be evaluated further, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Is not older than 40 or 45 years old at the time of applying for Master’s and Ph.D. degrees, respectively.

2. Having good academic credentials: i. Masters applicants: CGPA 3.0 / 2nd Class Upper or better at Bachelor’s Degree level; ii. PhD applicants: CGPA 3.0 / exceptional performance at Masters level in a course relating to the planned study program

3. English Language Proficiency: i. IELTS band 6.0 or higher; or ii. TOEFL (PBT) total score of 550 or higher; or iii. Previous degree(s) using English as the medium of instruction (proof is required).
4. Submitting a written research proposal of at least 1,000 words that is related to the targeted field of studies.

1- Master degree

2- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree

Note: Full-time study programs are only eligible to use the scholarship.

1. Outstanding academic performance.
2. The study proposal quality and potential contribution to technological advancement and human happiness
3. Outstanding communication, writing, and reading abilities in the English language

Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP)

Another program, the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) was established in 1980 as Malaysia commitment to South Cooperation through the sharing of Malaysia development experiences and expertise with other developing countries. MTCP aims to share the experience with other developing countries; strengthen bilateral ties with developing countries; encourage and promote South-South Cooperation; and encourage and promote technical cooperation within developing countries.

The application deadline for MTCP program is 16 July 2022 for the academic year 2022–2023

1. Master’s Degree
*Full time postgraduate students [Master’s Degree Programme] for the Academic Year of 2022/2023*

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) Scholarship must COMPLY with the following requirements:

a. At the time of application, you cannot be older than 45.

b. Candidates for the Master’s Degree Program should earn at least a Second Class Upper (Honors) grade or an equivalent undergraduate GPA of 3.5.

c. Proof of English Language Proficiency include Scanned copy of the original proof of English Language Proficiency such as IELTS (minimum total score 6); or TOEFL internet-based test with a score of 70 or equivalent; or

d. Is in excellent health, as determined by a physician. The applicant is solely responsible for covering the cost of the medical examination.

e. Scholars must enroll in postgraduate programs at the chosen Malaysian Universities full-time (Please refer List of Universities).

F. Only candidates who have received legitimate admission offer letters from at least one (1) Malaysian university and have not yet enrolled in postgraduate studies or who have registered for no more than one semester of master’s-level coursework are eligible to apply.

What you need to Apply?

All of the documents listed below are REQUIRED and must be UPLOADED via online application (scanned and saved in PDF format):

  • Application form (to be filled in the online system);
  • Latest Admission Offer Letter from Malaysian Universities for academic intake 2022/2023 (Please refer List of Universities);
  • Letter of Recommendation from two (2) referees
  •  Statement of Intent;
  • A certified copy of Academic Transcript;
    i. Record of all the courses taken throughout the degree programme must be reflected in the academic transcripts;
    ii. Applicants must submit transcripts of their undergraduate studies; and
    iii. Applicants must submit an official document issued by the applicants’ alma mater describing the university’s grade system. If an applicant’s transcript does not include information on CGPA, marks or score percentile, the documents must be certified.
  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • A certified copy of English Language Proficiency tests (TOEFL/ IELTS/ PTE/ CAE/ CPE/ MUET/ equivalent qualification);
  • A certified copy of Passport as evidence of nationality (minimum of 18 months’ validity);
  • Medical examination report; and
  •  COVID-19 proof of vaccination.

    to whom it may concern. I’m SALIM ABDUL SALAM from Afghanistan Ph.D student mixed mode at iium 3rd level Matric No: G1924407 Passport No: P00450709 CGPA: 3.92. I had scholarship from the our Government but, unfortunately afghan government no longer support me it will force me to leave study. However i’m really interested to complete my study. Hence, can i get the scholarship your kind assistance is very much appreciated.
