About APU

APU, one of Malaysia’s top private universities, is a place where technology, creativity, and innovation come together. On November 1st, 2021, at the QS Apple Conference, APU became the first Malaysian University to get a Five Stars Plus rating from QS. This top award is given to only 20 universities worldwide that get the highest scores across all categories.

APU is also the only Malaysian University that got the QS “5 Stars Plus” Rating and a place in the QS World University Ranking 2024. This puts APU in the top 2.2% of universities in the world. The latest QS World University rankings show that APU is ranked between 621-630 globally, is the 179th in Asia, and is the top choice for international students in Malaysia. It’s also 16th in the world for international students and among the top 200 universities worldwide for its international faculty.

APU started as the Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) in 1993 and became the Asia Pacific University College of Technology & Innovation (UCTI) in 2004. It’s known for turning high school graduates into professionals that employers want to hire. APU’s campus in Malaysia is home to students from over 130 countries, providing a diverse learning environment that prepares students for the global challenges ahead.

APU offers a wide range of programs in fields like computing, technology, engineering, business, accounting, and banking & finance. These programs are built around a core of technology.

APLC

The Asia Pacific Language Centre (APLC) is part of APU and the APIIT Education Group. It’s one of the few 5-Star Language Centers in Malaysia and offers English language courses. It’s also a British Council authorized Testing Centre for IELTS. The APLC offers extra programs, like study & holiday packages, and programs tailored to clients’ needs. Each year, over 1200 students attend APLC to improve their English.

Both APLC and APU offer a diverse learning environment that prepares students well for future challenges. APU’s degrees all have a common core of technology and aim to produce innovative thinkers. The APLC plays an important role in this, helping students improve their language and professional skills for success at APU.

The Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) has been named a “Premier Digital Tech University” by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). This title shows APU’s strong focus on digital technology courses and preparing their graduates for jobs in the digital field, both in Malaysia and around the world.

The Minister of Higher Education Malaysia gave APU this special status. This is a title for top universities and polytechnics in Malaysia that focus on digital technology, known as Premier Digital Tech Universities and Preferred Digital Tech Polytechnics (PDTIs).

Digital Learning Hub

The APU-Digital Learning Hub (DLH) aims to enable APU communities (academics, students, and staff) to collaborate and generate high-quality digital resources for teaching and learning, as well as creative projects.

Innovate: Conducting research and introducing new ideas for content design and development with NGDLE in mind.

Create: Collaborate with Digital Learning Architects, media specialists, and creatives to create high-quality, engaging digital material.

Enable: The Digital Learning Hub (DLH) Student Assistants are an important human resource for the university since they promote digital learning and are part of the DLH learning experience (LC) ecosystem.

Students create and cooperate on new digital projects in a variety of ways. They support digital learning, co-learn and contribute to the overall production of material for personal and institutional initiatives, serve as pilot testers for digital learning content, and assist other digital learners in online learning.

Minimum English Language Requirements

Please keep in mind that only students who have met the minimal standard of the English Language Proficiency Assessment as specified below will be permitted to continue their studies in the main study program, as per Ministry of Higher Education requirements. Students without the necessary English language proficiency may still apply for a student visa on a conditional basis, enroll in APU English Language Certification program after they arrive in Malaysia, and then take the IELTS/TOEFL/PTE/MUET exam.

Students will not be permitted to continue their studies in the main program and will need to return home if they are unable to acquire the necessary level of English proficiency within the maximum 12-month period.

Depending on bachelor, master and Ph.D. programs you decide to study, the minimum English requirements are different. However, minimum requirements are in the ranges below.

Transportation Accessibility

APU Shuttle Bus Services

APU offers shuttle bus service to all of its managed student housing, the APU English Language Center, and the Bukit Jalil LRT (Light Rapid Transit) Train Station.

Trains

Sri Petaling and Bukit Jalil are the closest train stations to their campus. The Bukit Jalil LRT Station is served by their shuttle buses.
