APU BA Animation is an undergraduate academic program that offers specialized training in creating visual graphics and animated content. This degree delves deep into various facets of animation, including 2D drawing, 3D modeling, stop-motion, and computer generated imagery (CGI). Animation finds its applications not just in entertainment sectors like films, TV shows, and video games but also in areas such as advertising, education, and healthcare, where animated content can simplify complex concepts or visualize the unseen.
Program Description
Animation is one of the world’s most rapidly expanding industries. In the recent decade, technology has advanced dramatically, from traditional 2D hand-drawn animation to digital 3D animation. In today’s digital environment, the use of animation is not limited to films. It provides fascinating job options in a variety of industries such as advertising, print media, television production, and gaming.
This curriculum is designed to help you grow as a creative animator. The animation path allows you to specialize in modeling, animation, and compositing-based applications in character film.
APU BA Animation focuses on many areas of essential animation processes and design skill sets in the creative business, while also examining various animation techniques ranging from 2D traditional to CG animation.
You will be involved in the creation of animated content, with a focus on critical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. You will also receive production experience through industrial training, with an emphasis on professional practice for increased work opportunities in animation.

Program Outline
The program aims to teach students with:
- Solid animation and design principles, strong technical capabilities, critical and analytical thinking abilities, and excellent communication skills are required.
Degree Level 1
Year 1 focuses on various parts of animation basics and design skill sets in the creative sector, particularly in the animation field. You will thoroughly investigate various animation styles spanning from 2D traditional to CG animation.

Degree Level 2
Year 2 entails more in-depth development of animation content with an emphasis on critical and analytical thinking skills as well as problem-solving abilities. Toward the end of the second year, you will also obtain production experience through industrial training.

Internship
To bridge the gap between academic and professional worlds, students will experience an Internship or Industrial Training for at least 16 weeks. This ensures they transition smoothly from academic settings to real world jobs.
Degree Level 3
In Year 3, you will specialize in your field of interest to create a series of animation projects that demonstrate your great talent and ability to work in a team. Through animation, an emphasis is made on professional practice in preparation for graduation and increased work opportunities.

APU-DMU Dual Degree
Students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree Program are presented with the opportunity to join the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. By choosing this pathway, upon graduation, students will be awarded two Degree Certificates & Transcripts: one from Asia Pacific University (APU) in Malaysia and another from De Montfort University (DMU) in the UK.
