APU MPhil in Management is a taught master’s degree program that provides new and recent graduates of any discipline other than business and management with a solid foundation in management. The MPhil in Management program expects its graduates to pursue careers in management. Therefore, the faculty designs the program as a graduate conversion course to prepare students for such positions. The program upholds high academic and intellectual standards, building on the latest academic research in the field.
During the course of the program, participants will be helped in moving from students to professional managers by providing them with the fundamental skills required for a management career as well as new opportunities to improve their collaborative leadership abilities and business creativity.
The program’s belief is that, while effective management requires experience, a solid academic foundation is a vital requirement for a managerial career. Because management necessitates a wide range of talents, from the quantitative to the interpersonal, the MPhil in Management requires proficiency in a variety of practical fields.
Courses and Exams
Program administrators score the program through formal reports and presentations at several stages. These stages include a Proposal Defense, regular half-yearly progress monitoring at research colloquiums, a Work Completion Defense, a Thesis Examination, and a Viva Voce. Students must attend one given course on Research Methodology to get the necessary knowledge for doing their research effective. Ongoing conferences with supervisors will be required to ensure the direction of the research as well as the quality and significance of the findings.
Transformation to PHD
If a student finishing the Research Degree program passes all of the requirements listed below, they may become a PhD candidate:
(a) Demonstrate outstanding progress in their study.
(b) Ability to prove that their project has the potential to be developed to the PhD level.
(c) Pass the entire examination.
If the process of converting is successful, the student will no longer be a Research Degree candidate but will instead become a PhD candidate, with their candidature start date backdated to the date they registered for their Research Degree. As a result, the student can earn a PhD in a shorter period of time without having to complete a Masters program.
