APU BA in Forensic Accounting  is an academic program designed to teach students the knowledge and skills needed to analyze financial records for evidence of fraud, financial discrepancies, and legal violations. Program Outline

APU BA in Forensic Accounting aims to teach students:

  • Skills and knowledge to find and look into evidence, which includes understanding how to find mistakes in financial statements, how to put together financial activities again, and how to find tax cheating and other wrong accounting actions.
  • The important skills, main abilities, and needed information for the business world of today.
  • The most allowed exceptions from groups that set professional standards.
  • Being good not only at making and looking at financial statements but also at guiding and leading their companies in the right direction.
  • Knowledge about financial technology and the specific skills needed for Accounting and Finance.

Degree Level 1

In year 1, students of  APU BA in Forensic Accounting will learn the essential skills every accounting and finance expert needs, along with the foundational of the legal, commercial, and societal context in which accounting functions. They will get familiar with business operations using accounting software and the globally renowned enterprise resource planning tool, SAP. Students will receive practical training on this system.

Degree Level 2

In year 2, students will learn a wide variety of skills. They will understand more about common topics in Accounting and Finance, such as Management Accounting, Taxation, Financial Management, Advanced Corporate Reporting, and Forensic Accounting among others. It’s also important for students to be good with technology. This helps them learn on their own and gets them ready for jobs or more studies in the future. Because of this, we will teach them through special courses like Emerging Technologies for Accounting and Finance and how to use Data Analytics in Accounting and Finance.

Internship

To bridge the gap between academic and professional worlds, students will experience an Internship or Industrial Training for at least 16 weeks. This ensures they transition smoothly from academic settings to real world jobs.

Degree Level 3

Students will use what they learned before and their work experience to study deeper about checking financial records, with a goal to become leaders in a special area called forensic accounting. They will also learn more about this area by finding parts that might have problems. Courses like Fraud Investigation Techniques, Digital Forensic Analysis, and Criminology will help them understand better. After their real world work experience, or internship, they will have a special course called Reflective Practice in Accounting & Finance to help them think and solve problems better. Students will also learn about the results of choices on the environment, people, and rules through special lessons called ESG modules. In their last year, they will do a big project to show what they have learned in their main study area.

APU-DMU Dual Degree

Students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree Program are presented with the opportunity to join the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. By choosing this pathway, upon graduation, students will be awarded two Degree Certificates & Transcripts: one from Asia Pacific University (APU) in Malaysia and another from De Montfort University (DMU) in the UK.

Admission Requirements

General Requirements
Direct Entry to Level 1 of Degree
STPM • 2 Passes in STPM with a minimum Grade C+ (GP 2.33) and a Credit in Mathematics at SPM Level or its equivalent. (MUET Band 2 is required for all Malaysian Students)
A-Level • 2 Passes in A-Level in any 2 subjects, and a Credit in Mathematics at SPM/O-Level/IGCSE or its equivalent.
UEC • 5 Grade B’s in UEC including Mathematics. (MUET Band 2 is required for all Malaysian Students)
Foundation/ Matriculation • Passed Foundation program (minimum CGPA of 2.5) with a Credit in Mathematics at SPM/O-Level/IGCSE or equivalent.
Direct Entry to Level 2 of Degree
Diploma in Accounting • Passed Diploma with minimum CGPA of 2.5 and a Credit in Mathematics at SPM/O-Level/IGCSE level.

English Requirements for International Students

  • IELTS : 5.5
  • TOEFL iBT : 46
  • Pearson (PTE) : 51
  • MUET : Band 4.0
