APU University Master of Technology Management program aims to educate future managers who are able to analyze technology through a business lens and create across the company business solutions to help companies succeed in today’s highly competitive and technologically focused business world. This is not a technical degree, but rather a general management degree.

This program is designed for two types of students: those with a few years of professional experience and those who have recently completed their bachelor studies. As such, the MSTM is for people who wish to get out and stretch themselves.

This program is designed for graduates of technical programs such as engineering and computer science who want to learn management skills related to their experience.

This course of study is additionally attractive to non-technical managers and executives who are increasingly called on to manage technology and technical workers as part of their managing responsibilities. Graduates interested in senior management positions in high technology or technology-intensive businesses are encouraged to submit their applications.

Program Outline

The program aims to teach students:

• An opportunity to better understand and appreciate the combination of technology and management.
• A platform for developing skilled managers capable of effectively dealing with the dynamic changes caused by technology at all levels.
• An awareness of management’s demands in making decisions.
• An overall understanding of how a company’s strategic business plan influences its technological strategy and infrastructure.

Courses

The course of study includes 8 key courses (including 1 on research methodology), 2 elective courses, and a project. The courses cover concerns of quality, innovation management, and technological transformation.

Furthermore, globalization and international viewpoints will be taken into consideration, and strategic management is emphasized in order to improve the program’s coherence.

Project

Students need to complete industry-based major projects where practicable, however the emphasis must be on an effective demonstration of how the application of computer-related technology can be part of the business environment.

It is expected that the project will come up with, suggest, or put into practice creative fixes for the issue areas.

APU-DMU Dual Degree

Students enrolled in the Masters Degree Program will have the option to participate in the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Students will receive two Degree Certificates and Transcripts upon graduation under this Scheme: one from Asia Pacific University (APU) in Malaysia and one from De Montfort University (DMU) in the United Kingdom.

Admission Requirements

General Requirement

Bachelor’s degree in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 as accepted by the Senate.

Bachelor’s degree in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.50 is acceptable subject to a rigorous internal assessment.

Bachelor’s degree in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 as accepted by the Senate and with relevant working experience, subject to a rigorous internal assessment.

Bachelor’s degree in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 as accepted by the Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing pre-requisite courses.

English Requirements for International Students
