The Award for the Vice-Chancellor
Eligibility
Local or international doctoral students enrolled full-time at USM for a research-based degree.
Academic requirements: CGPA at least 3.50; a respectable master’s degree
Financial Period
Minimum: One Year; Maximum: Three Years
Services and Benefits
RM3,000 in monthly allowances, RM3,000 in grants, and RM3,000 each for tuition and exam costs.
USM fellowships
Eligibility
- CGPA at least 3.00 or an average (%) of at least 85% or higher, or at least 17 out of 20 on the scale, or a respectable master’s degree
- full-time mode of research
Financial Period
- Ph.D.: three years maximum;
- Masters: two years maximum
Advantages & Coverage

- (2) Monthly compensation:
- Masters: RM1,500 for the first year; RM1,800 for the second (2nd year)

Scheme for Graduate Assistants in Teaching
Eligibility
CGPA 2.75; full-time research mode; Master’s or Ph.D. students, domestic or foreign
Masters: four semesters; Ph.D.: six semesters; Funding Period (appointments are by semesters)
Services and Benefits
10 months every academic session, with RM900 (Masters) or RM1,100 (Ph.D.) in monthly allowances (July-November & December–April)

Grant Scheme for Post-doctoral Research (USM-RU-PRGS)
Objectives
