New Standard Operating Procedure (Sop) for Travelers Entering Malaysia: Statement From the Ministry of Health of Malaysia

Purpose

1. The goal of this bulletin is to inform readers about a recent statement made by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, Director General of Health, Ministry of Health Malaysia, regarding the revised Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for visitors (including foreign students) entering Malaysia starting on August 1, 2022.

2. The following information, which is relevant to all categories of travelers (including overseas students), was provided in the statement of August 4, 2022:

  • There is no longer a need for the Pre-Departure and On-Arrival Covid-19 detection tests.
  • Upon arrival in Malaysia, there are no COVID-19-related quarantine orders.
  • No matter if a traveler has had their vaccinations, they can enter Malaysia.
The criteria of the airline company still apply to the immunization requirements.
  • The traveler doesn’t need to fill out the “Traveller’s Card” information in the MySejahtera Application. The authorities will continue to monitor and enhance activities to track travelers’ symptoms at all Malaysian international entry points.
  • If a traveler self-reports illness or the thermal scanner detects a temperature upon their arrival in Malaysia, health officials will be contacted for a checkup.
  • If health officials suspect these individuals of having an infectious disease like Covid-19, monkeypox, MERS-CoV, or any other similar diseases, they will direct them to a local medical facility for further testing and treatment.
