Early Years

Secondary School

BSKL Secondary School

The British International School of Kuala Lumpur fosters the development of abilities that will enable your child to achieve more than they ever imagined possible via student-centered teaching and learning.

Their primary school started their educational adventure, and the secondary school continues. They build on the English National Curriculum with modifications appropriate for an international school.

Since their secondary school integrates BSKL’s ideals into the curriculum and bases pastoral care on the needs of the individual students, learning is built on a foundation of student happiness.

Seven year groups, organized according to age and using the nomenclature rules used by the English National Curriculum, make up their secondary school.

Years 7-9 and Years 10-11 are sometimes referred to as Key Stages 3 and 4, respectively, while Years 12 and 13 are sometimes referred to as the Sixth Form or Key Stage 5.

Year 7-9 (Key Stage 3)

The academic program is based on the English National Curriculum but includes significant improvements to offer a modern, demanding, and creative curriculum that develops the fundamental information, skills, and understanding needed to start our IGCSE program and advance to further learning.

Students take classes in English, math, science, geography, history, music, drama, art, graphic design, digital technology, and physical education.

Additionally, they select two additional Modern Foreign Languages from a list that includes Mandarin, Spanish, and French.

Problem-solving-focused training is used when it is appropriate. Each subject is taught by a subject expert, the majority of whom have received their teaching training in the UK.

Through Key Stage 3, there are more chances for autonomous study. Students are encouraged to evaluate their own work and design their own learning strategies for the future.

We believe that making errors is an essential component of learning, so we encourage students to think critically and take risks in the classroom in order to develop problem-solving abilities.

Both individually and in groups, project work is a crucial component. Additionally, there are several opportunities for students to hone in on their areas of interest both inside and outside the classroom through pertinent enrichment activities.

IGCSE Exam Years 10-11 (Key Stage 4)

Students in Years 10 and 11 pursue IGCSE credentials offered by the Cambridge, Edexcel, and AQA examination boards. Academically demanding and regarded as one of the best in the world for this age group, the two-year IGCSE program is tough in all areas.

Many of the disciplines include unique, international components and content that have been created by experts to make them relevant to students all across the world.

IGCSEs are frequently earned by BSKL students in nine or ten courses, giving them the opportunity to be well-prepared for the next level of study while yet having time to pursue other interests.

Students at BSKL take IGCSE exams in the following four core subjects: science, math, and either further math or English literature.
