UM accommodation will allow you to enjoy your time safe, we also would like to inform you that University of Malaya only serve a fully furnished room at Residential Colleges on the campus for Undergraduate Students.
While for Postgraduate Students, you need to find an alternative way to get your cozy room within off the campus, although you can still apply and get a chance to stay on campus.
There are various options on where to stay depending on your budget and preferences. University of Malaya students can choose to stay in on-campus and off-campus accommodations.
On-campus Accommodation

Your lodging needs can be met by the administrative officer at the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS). As you will be vying with other students for a limited number of spots, it will be advantageous to do so early.
There are two residential colleges outside the university and eleven inside it, both of which are close to the faculties. The cafeteria, photocopy shop, laundry, sports facilities, conference and project rooms, study rooms, computer labs, and printing facilities are all available at these colleges.
You must submit your application along with two letters of support from the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine.
Off-campus Accommodation
Internal House
One of the off-campus housing alternatives for students, particularly international students, is the University of Malaya International House.
Facilities include:
- Fully furnished (beds, cupboards, sofa, dining table & chairs, study tables)
- Fully air-conditioned (4 units)
- Bedrooms + 1 bathroom (with water heater)
- Kitchen (with gas hob and smoke extractor)
- Refrigerator

3. Calculation of Residence Fee for ‘Estimation Per Semester’ based on total days of accommodation at Residential College. Hence, the calculation referred as followed:
Example : [ RM6.50 x 126 days (18 weeks) = RM819.00 ]
4. Fully furnished with existing furniture like beds, wardrobes, tables, chairs, bookshelves and curtain in each Accommodation Unit.
5. All electrical appliances other than listed above are NOT ALLOWED in Accommodation Unit. If there are any, it will be confiscated by Management during spot-check held without notice.
