Bachelor of Agricultural Science

This program is multi- and interdisciplinary in character, focusing on agricultural science and covering a wide range of disciplines in the basic, applied, and social sciences.

The focus of the scope and training is on biotic, physical, and social systems. The degree also focuses the sciences and technology of producing and utilizing agricultural commodities plantation, food agriculture, and integrated farming.

This program aims to produce relevant and professional applied scientists participating in planning, management, and research to increase agricultural production quality and competitiveness. Bachelor of Agricultural Science tuition fees for academic year 2023-2024 is 65,800 Ringgit.

Bachelor of Agriculture (Animal Science)

The Bachelor of Agriculture (Animal Science) program is to develop competent animal science graduates who can utilize their knowledge and skills in planning, management, and research to improve the quality and competitiveness of the animal sector.

Graduates of the program will have up-to-date knowledge and skills in animal production science. Students will also be able to run a sophisticated and commercial cattle agro-industrial business or continue post-graduate courses.

The curriculum includes courses in management, economics, and agricultural marketing as well as other disciplines in animal production science. Students must also complete industrial training and a research project in animal science.

Bachelor of Agriculture (Agribusiness)

Bachelor of Agriculture (Agribusiness)

This program’s curriculum combines science, agriculture, and food technology with business management to generate graduates for the agribusiness industry from farm production to consumer.

Crop science, post harvest technology, and animal science are examples of agricultural science and technology taught in the curriculum, while management, marketing, finance, and accounting are examples of business management.

Bachelor of horticultural Science

The Bachelor of Horticultural Science program is a full-time course that immerses students in the basic understanding of scientific, technical, and managerial aspects of horticulture.

The program equips students with knowledge and skills that enable them to transform obtained information into new technological applications in the agricultural business, for the betterment of society.

The curriculum covers basic sciences, applied biology, soil science, economics and management, and communication. It also encompasses resource management, planning, and evaluation of horticulture businesses.

Besides classroom learning, students experience commercial horticulture practices through mandatory practical training in horticultural and allied businesses.

Bachelor of Technology in Smart Agriculture

The Bachelor of Technology in Smart Agriculture with Honors (BTPP) is a multi-modal, task-based study program, offering Coursework Mode and Industrial Mode (3u1i).

Both the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT) accredit this program. The Coursework Mode lasts for 4 years, with 7 semesters at UPM and 1 semester of Industrial Training.

In contrast, the Industrial Mode (3u1i) spans 4 years, with 6 semesters at UPM and 2 semesters of Industrial Training. The program introduces students to basic theoretical and practical knowledge related to measuring, analyzing, and making decisions in agricultural production systems.

They learn to use technologies such as sensors, remote sensing, big data, artificial intelligence (AI), drone technology, Internet of Things (IoT), and digital system integration.

Master of Plantation Management

Master of Plantation Management

The University of the Philippines (UPM) and the Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP) collaborated to launch the postgraduate professional degree, Master of Plantation Management, in May 1998.

Both organizations bring their respective expertise to the program – UPM in agricultural education and research, and ISP in training individuals for the plantation sector.

This combined competence ensures the program’s high quality. The program has admitted various professionals including senior plantation managers, researchers, lecturers, lawyers, and accountants.

The curriculum is designed to allow enrolled students to continue working. Students earn the degree through academic effort rather than a research thesis.

Master of Land Resource Management

Established in 1971, the Faculty of Agriculture at Universitat Pertanian Malaysia (now University Putra Malaysia) offers a program that equips professional graduates with a comprehensive understanding of land resource management, both technically and managerially.

It addresses theory, methodology, and contemporary practices in land resource management, particularly in the tropical region. Upon completion of the program, students will grasp the basics of soil science and land resources, which will enable them to address current land issues.

They will understand land as living soil units within the natural landscape and how to use it sustainably, enhancing their self-esteem and professionalism to tackle future challenges in land resource management. Master of land resource tuition fees for academic year 2023-2024 is 41,1150 Ringgit.

The Master of Tropical Soil Science is a program that focuses on the chemical, biological, physical, and fertility elements of tropical soils, as well as methods of conservation, survey, and classification.
