In addition to the thesis component, students must study Research Methodology in order to improve their research expertise.

Thesis

PhD (Business) students must conduct a deep study on a specific research topic and submit the results in the form of a thesis. They are required to defend the thesis in an oral examination known as viva voce.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Sunway PhD of Business Candidates should have one of the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in related fields as accepted by the University Senate; OR
• A Master’s degree in non-related fields as accepted by the University Senate, subject to having at least 2 years of work experience in the relevant field and passed an internal assessment; OR
• A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in non-related fields as accepted by the University Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing prerequisite courses; OR
• Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) recognized by the Malaysian Government.

English Requirements

International candidates must demonstrate English ability sufficient to satisfy the program’s requirements:

• IELTS: 7.0 or equivalent

Note: Candidates who have completed a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in English would have met the language requirement.
