Among Sunway accommodation, Waterfront Residence, formerly known as Sunway Monash Residence, is a high-end student residence with a diverse range of services and activities that foster a thriving community.

Getting to class has never been easier because to its proximity to Monash University Malaysia and Sunway University and College.

The safety and well-being of students is also a priority at Waterfront Residence, with 24-hour security and robust pastoral care for residents, as well as an on-site Hostel Warden to assist residents with any needs they may have.

Sun-U residence

  • Sunway College is only a 9-minute walk away from this location, which is located within the campus area.
  • SEG Residence manages and maintains the property.
  • The rental price includes utilities (capped amount).
  • There is no yearly contract. You need a three-month tenancy.

FAQs

How to apply for accommodation?

If you want to apply for a room, please send the following information to enquiry residence@sunway.edu.my: (i) Fill out the Application for Residency (ii) Submit proof of payment for the RM500 residence application fee (non-refundable) (iii) Attach one photocopy of your NRIC/bio-data page from a current passport (for Malaysians) or (for International students) (iv) Provide one passport photo in its original size, which you will need during check-in.

Who can apply for the accommodation?

Sunway Education Group students who have received an offer Letter from Sunway College, Sunway University, Monash University Malaysia, or Le Cordon Bleu can apply for housing.

How early should I apply for the accommodation?

Sunway University strongly advises that you apply as soon as possible, at least thirty (30) days before your intended check-in date.

How can I inform if my application is successful?

The Residence Management staff will send a Confirmation Letter via email approximately one (1) month before the intended check-in date. This deadline does not apply to applications submitted less than one month before the check-in date.

Can I change my check-in date?

Yes. Applicants can make changes to the check-in date and defer their application once, provided that they submit advance notice in writing to enquiry residence@sunway.edu.my. Applicants must then notify the Residence Management Team with a revised recommended check-in date.

Can I make a request if I have room preferences?

Yes. Any unique requests, such as room/unit requests, are subject to availability. A processing fee will be charged if the request is completed (present rate is RM100 per request)

Can I pay my residence fee upon check-in?

Sunway strongly advises that you pay your housing fee online before to check-in to ensure that your payment is processed quickly. Sunway College Finance Counter is the only location where you can pay over the counter.

What’s included in my accommodation fee?

The accommodation rates include utility charges (water and electricity)and are capped at a certain amount.

Is there a minimum period of stay?

Three (3) full calendar months is the minimum length of stay.

What documents are required upon check-in?

(i) Email confirmation letter (ii) Passport/ National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) (iii) Passport sized photo (iv) Proof of all payments made prior to check-in (digital or hard copy)

Is Wi-Fi available at the Residence?

Yes. At the Residence, there is free Wi-Fi.

What are the nearest food outlets?

Within the complexes of several Residences, there are food outlets. The residences are within walking distance of external cafes and restaurants. Food supplies from outside sources are also available.

What are the safety features of the Residences?

(i) All of our Residences have security professionals on duty 24 hours a day, with CCTV cameras and an access card system installed. They have connected all of our Residences to Monash University via an elevated walkway. We monitor the walkway with CCTV and station security officers at all exits.

Is cooking allowed in the Unit?

No, you cannot cook in the unit.

Is cleaning provided in the unit?

Yes. The unit, with the exception of the student room, is cleaned twice weekly.

Is parking available at the Residence?

Yes. If a parking space is available, it will be issued on a first come, first served basis and will be subject to a monthly fee of RM100.

Is smoking allowed in the Residence?

No. You can not Smoke.

Are pets allowed in the Residence?

You don’t permit to have pets in the Residence.

What is the Management Office operating hours?

During office hours Monday – Friday (8.30am – 5.30pm) Saturday (10.00am – 4.00pm)

How do I report any maintenance issue?

You can report maintenance issues to the Management Office or to the Residence Management team through email at the following address: SMR – smr_residence@sunway.edu.my SUR – sur_residence@sunway.edu.my SUA – sua_residence@sunway.ed.my

Is laundry service available in the Residence?

Laundry service is offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in all Residences.

What happens if I have locked myself out of the room?

Card/key loan services are available through the Resident Management Team. Residents who borrow a spare card/key from the Residence Management Office will be charged a service fee of RM10.00.

Who should I contact in case of emergency?

Please visit the Residence Management Office during business hours for assistance. To contact the emergency Hotline number, which will be supplied at check-in, beyond office hours.

Where will my parcel delivered to?

Your package will be delivered to the Management Office, where you may pick it up during business hours. When making an online purchase, you must provide your full name, full dwelling address, and unit number.

What should I do if I wish to check-out from the residence?

What items need to be returned upon check-out?

When you check out, you must return the following items: SMR: Access card, TV remote (for Single Ensuite & Single Room only), Parking card with sticker (if applicable) SUR: Keys to the room, a temporary card (if needed), a parking card, and a sticker (if applicable)

What time will my deposit be returned?

We will conduct a final examination of your room on your check-out date to assess if any deductions are necessary. After deducting any outstanding amounts, we will process and return your deposit to you within five (5) weeks from your check-out date.
