UTM Postgraduate Mainstream Programmes and Fees

UTM postgraduate mainstream programmes cover the core disciplines offered across the university’s primary faculties. Tuition fees are listed in both Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and US Dollars (USD) for international students. Master programmes typically span 3 semesters, while PhD programmes span 6 semesters.

Two modes of study are available: Coursework & Mixed-Mode (CW-MM) and Research (R), with Research fees including the viva voce examination fee.

UTM Faculty of Artificial Intelligence — Programmes and Fees

Formerly known as the Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics, the UTM Faculty of Artificial Intelligence offers specialised postgraduate programmes in engineering business management, software engineering, information assurance, data analytics, and more. All programmes listed below are offered in Coursework & Mixed-Mode (CW-MM) format over 3 semesters for Master’s and 6 semesters for doctoral degrees.

Azman Hashim International Business School (AHIBS) — Programmes and Fees

AHIBS is UTM’s dedicated business school, offering industry-focused postgraduate qualifications designed for working professionals and future business leaders. Programmes include the MBA and the DBA, both delivered in Mixed-Mode (MM) format.

Malaysia–Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) — Programmes and Fees

MJIIT is a unique collaborative institute established between Malaysia and Japan, offering postgraduate programmes that integrate Japanese educational philosophy with cutting-edge research in sustainability, disaster management, and innovation. All MJIIT programmes listed below are Coursework & Mixed-Mode (CW-MM) over 3 semesters.

Understanding UTM Postgraduate Fees: What’s Included and What’s Not

The tuition fees listed above include the core programme costs and, for research-based programmes, the viva voce examination fee (RM1,500 for Master’s, RM2,500 for PhD). However, several additional expenses are not included:

• Hostel accommodation: On-campus housing fees are charged separately and vary by room type and residential college.
• Convocation fees: Graduation ceremony costs are not included in tuition.
• Visa and personal bond: International students must pay for student pass processing and a personal bond, which is refundable upon completion of studies.
• Health insurance: Medical insurance is mandatory for international students and is billed separately.
