The Jeffrey Cheah Foundation–Sunway Group Scholarship is one of Malaysia’s most prestigious fully-funded scholarship programmes for undergraduate study. Available to Malaysian citizens, it covers full tuition fees, accommodation, books, and a monthly living allowance at Sunway University and other selected top-ranked local public and international universities. For 2026, the scholarship continues its mission of nurturing future leaders through academic excellence, financial support, and career development opportunities.
Established by Tan Sri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah, AO, through the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation, this scholarship reflects the Foundation’s commitment to empowering deserving students regardless of financial background. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded over RM570 million in scholarships, making it one of the largest private education foundations in Malaysia.
Eligibility Criteria for 2026
- Malaysian citizens under the age of 21
- SPM: minimum of 10As (English & 5 other core subjects)
- STPM, Foundation, Matriculation, or Pre-University: CGPA of 3.30 or higher
- IGCSE / Cambridge O-Level: minimum 8A* (see Special IGCSE Scholarship below)
- Annual household income not exceeding RM150,000
- Full-time undergraduate studies starting in 2026 at local, private, or top-ranked international universities
- Letter of unconditional or conditional acceptance from the university
- Strong leadership record in extracurricular activities, resilience, and drive for excellence
- Fluent in English with strong communication abilities
- Must not hold any other scholarship or award from another institution, organisation, or charity
Special Scholarship 2026 (IGCSE)
For 2026, Sunway University introduces a Special Scholarship for students presenting IGCSE / Cambridge O-Level results. This tiered award provides tuition fee deductions based on the number of A* and A grades achieved, making it accessible to a broader range of high-achieving students.

Scope of Award
In addition to tuition, housing, and a monthly stipend, scholars receive growth opportunities including internships, mentoring, and placement at Sunway Group firms upon graduation. Scholars must maintain Second Class (Upper) or 2:1 grades each semester.

Application Deadline 2026
Applications must be submitted within two (2) weeks following the start of the programme or two (2) weeks after the announcement of actual results. Scholarship packages undergo annual evaluation. The information in this article pertains to the 2026 intake.
Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Ensure all certified documents are attached before submission.
Terms and Conditions
- Open to Malaysian citizens only
- Scholars must maintain satisfactory academic performance (minimum Second Class Upper / 2:1) throughout their studies
- Scholars must attend group counselling sessions, talks, workshops, and meetings designed for scholarship recipients
- Scholars must contribute to projects run by the Welfare Unit, Student LIFE, and Sunway Student Ambassadors (SSA)
- Scholars must submit a copy of their academic progress report to the Scholarship Unit at Student LIFE after each semester
- The scholarship only covers tuition fee deduction for first-attempt subjects; repeat subjects are not covered
- Students with credit transfers or exemptions are not eligible
