Sunway International School (SIS) in Sunway City, Kuala Lumpur, offers four types of financial support. The Sixth Form and IB Diploma Entrance Scholarship is worth RM13,000 to RM40,000 a year, or a full scholarship. The Academic Scholarships give a 25% waiver for Grade 7/Year 8 and 25% or 100% for Cambridge Year 10. The Music and Sports Scholarship gives a 25% to 50% waiver, and the Family Bursary gives 5% to 15% off tuition. Most awards are open to both Malaysian and international students. For the January 2027 intake, apply by 1 December 2026.

All scholarships are tuition fee waivers, not cash awards, and they do not cover registration, examination or other fees.
What Changed Since 2024
- The pre-university scholarship now covers Sixth Form (Cambridge A Level) as well as the IB Diploma, and the amounts are much higher: the top fixed award rose from RM15,000 to RM40,000 a year, and the lowest from RM2,000 to RM13,000.
- A new Cambridge Year 10 Academic Scholarship offers up to a 100% tuition waiver.
- The Music and Sports Scholarship is now open to international students, with clear waiver levels for sports achievements.
- A Family Bursary gives discounts to siblings and to children of Sunway alumni.
- The school now presents itself as Sunway International School Sunway City, Kuala Lumpur (SISKL), with a sister campus in Johor.
Sixth Form and IB Diploma Entrance Scholarship
This is the largest SIS scholarship. It is for new students entering Sixth Form (A Level) or the IB Diploma Programme full-time, from Malaysia or abroad, with a good discipline record. The award depends on your previous results:

*Ontario average of the best 6 subjects. For the IB Diploma this is Grade 10 and must include ENG2D and MPM2D. For Sixth Form it is Grade 11 and must include ENG3U and MCR3U. IB MYP applicants cannot score below 4 points in any single eAssessment subject.
- The award applies to tuition fees only and must be renewed every year.
- You may be invited to an interview with the School Scholarship Committee.
- Documents: application form, certified copies of your results, a copy of your passport or ID, your school leaving certificate or testimonials, and a letter from your previous principal confirming good behaviour.
- Deadline: 1 December for the following January intake. Late applications are not accepted.
Academic Scholarships
Grade 7 (Ontario) / Year 8 (Cambridge)
Award: 25% tuition fee waiver. It is for full-time Malaysian and international students entering or progressing into Grade 7 or Year 8 with a good discipline record. You need at least 6 As (or 80%) in your final Grade 6 / Year 7 results, in English (comprehension and writing), Mathematics, Science and three other subjects. Only one second language can count.
Year 10 (Cambridge IGCSE)
The number of awards is limited. The scholarship is open to Malaysian and international students entering or progressing into Cambridge Year 10:
- 25% tuition waiver: at least 6 As in final Year 9 results, in English, Mathematics, Science and three other subjects.
- 100% tuition waiver: at least 9 As in final Year 9 results, including English as a First Language, Mathematics, Science and six other subjects. You also need a CAT4 score of 125 or higher in both verbal and quantitative reasoning.
- Applicants attend an interview and write a personal essay of at least one page on why they deserve the scholarship.
How to Apply for an Academic Scholarship
- Complete the Scholarship Application Form.
- Attach certified copies of your latest year-end results.
- Add a recommendation letter from your current or previous principal confirming good behaviour.
- Submit by 1 December for the January intake. An interview may follow.

Music and Sports Scholarship
The scholarship is open to Malaysian and international students aged 12 to 18 who are enrolled full-time. You need an average of at least 70% in your latest results and a good discipline record.

MSSM is the Malaysian Schools Sports Council. Achievements must be backed by documents from the relevant state or national sports association or federation.
Music Scholarship Requirements
- Grade 5 certification from an international board such as RockSchool, ABRSM or Trinity, or an equivalent accepted by the committee.
- At least two years of local and international musical exposure, with at least one competition and one performance each year.
How to Apply for the Music and Sports Scholarship
- A CV covering academic and extracurricular achievements.
- Music certificates or proof of performances, or sports references.
- Two recommendation letters: one from your music teacher or sports coach and one from your former principal.
- A personal essay of at least one page covering why you deserve the scholarship, your goals as a musician or athlete, and your plans after SIS.
- Submit by 1 December (January intake) or 1 June (July intake). An interview may be required.

The older sibling must be studying at, or have completed at least one academic year at, SIS, Sunway College or Sunway University. The bursary applies to tuition only, for later enrolments, and is calculated on the remaining balance if another discount already applies. Apply with the Family Bursary Form; the SIS Admissions Office gives final approval.

Scholarships After Sunway International School
Many SIS graduates continue to Sunway College or Sunway University, which have their own scholarship schemes for 2026 intakes. Students who move from SIS to a Sunway pre-university programme and then a Sunway degree can receive the Sunway PALS Loyalty Bursary, a 10% tuition deduction, if they are not already receiving a Sunway scholarship.
