In order to recognize students’ achievements and to express their gratitude to the SIS Community and beyond, SIS offers Sunway scholarship and bursaries.
In keeping with the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation’s mission of improving society through education and as a member, SIS is committed to honoring their students’ academic success and extracurricular performance.
The SIS Academic, Music & Sports, and IBDP Entrance Scholarships are provided as an incentive to motivate their students to keep following their interests, whether they are in sports, music, and dance, or pushing themselves to reach new academic heights.
Academic Scholarship
The award of scholarship takes the form of a 25% waiver on tuition fees only. The scholarship is not a cash award.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications for admission to Grade 7 for the January intake are accepted from full-time Malaysian and international students who have finished their primary education.

- Must fulfil the academic requirements as follows:
- Obtained six (6) As in the following subjects in Grade 6 (or equivalent) final school results:
- English (Comprehension and Writing), AND
- Mathematics, AND
- Science; AND
- three (3) other subjects
(only one (1) second language may be counted)
- Obtained six (6) As in the following subjects in Grade 6 (or equivalent) final school results:
- Open to both Malaysian and International student applicants
- All documents relevant to the scholarship must be endorsed by parents and/or relevant authorities
How to Apply
By the dates listed below, applicants must complete the relevant Scholarship Application Form and send it, along with the supporting documentation, to the SIS Admissions and Administration Office:
1- copies of the grades that have been authenticated:
Final academic performance and certification at the end of Grade 6 or an equivalent level, most recent/current year
2- A letter of recommendation from the principal of the student’s previous or present school attesting to the student’s outstanding behavior record and the fact that he or she has never faced disciplinary action at the school as a whole.
3- The deadline for scholarship applications is December 1 for January intake.
Music and Sport Scholarship
Only the tuition fees are waived by 25% as part of the scholarship grant. This Sunway scholarship is no cash award.
Eligibility Criteria
Full-time Sunway International School Malaysian students who have performed at the regional and national levels in their respective extra-curricular categories are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
- between the ages of 12 and 18
- Sunway International School must be enrolled and accepted as a full-time student.
- Only Malaysians are eligible.
- All scholarship-related documentation must be signed by parents and/or relevant authorities.
Music Scholarship Eligibility
- Grade 5 certification from an international examination board such as RockSchool, ABRM, Trinity, or other qualifications deemed suitable by the SIS Scholarship Committee
- A minimum of two years of experience in local and/or worldwide exposure is required.
Sports Scholarship Eligibility
- Must have competed and represented your district/state/national in local/national tournaments and competitions.
To demonstrate their achievements, candidates must provide supporting documentation and/or reference materials from their state/national sports association/federation. - Sports sponsored by the Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM) or an analogous organization.
Note: If an applicant’s selected sport is not part of MSSM, the Sunway Scholarship Committee has final say. - Has received accolades and recognition in a specific area of sports.
How To Apply
Applicants must complete the relevant Scholarship Application Form and send it to the SIS Admissions and Administration Office by the deadlines listed below, together with the required documents:
1- CV (resume) detailing academic and extracurricular interests such as sports, arts, and others.
2- Music: A certificate or references demonstrating the applicant’s musical experience. Sporting references to demonstrate remarkable athletic achievement
3- Two letters of recommendation, one from each of the following people:
- Music teacher or sports coach (corresponding with the type of scholarship applied)
- Former Principal of a School
4- Personal essay with at least one page of the following items:
- What makes me deserving of this Sunway scholarship?
- What are my goals as a musician or athlete?
- What are my plans when I graduate from Sunway International School?
5- Scholarship application deadlines are December 1st for subsequent January intakes and June 1st for subsequent July intakes.
IB Diploma Program Entrance Scholarship
This Sunway scholarship amount fluctuates according to the student’s academic performance. The scholarship does not come with a cash award.
Eligibility Criteria
Sunway International School is now accepting new students for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.
- Sunway International School must admit and register you as a full-time student.
- We welcome Malaysians and citizens from around the world.
- You must demonstrate an excellent track record of discipline and behavior.
- Appropriate authorities must validate all scholarship-related paperwork.

How To Apply
Applicants must complete the relevant Scholarship Application Form and send it to the SIS Admissions and Administration Office by the deadlines listed below, together with the required documents:
- True copies of academic results that have been certified
- A copy of your identity card/passport, your school leaving certificate, or your testimonials
- A letter of recommendation from the former principle certifying that this kid has a good behavior record and has not been subjected to school-wide disciplinary action during his/her school years.
