The High School Program at SIS operates on a semester-based schedule. It emphasizes the growth of student knowledge and capabilities through projects, assignments, off-site visits, independent studies, and collaborative tasks.

Continuous assessment throughout the semester contributes to 70% of a student’s final grade, while the concluding evaluation accounts for the remaining 30%.

This blend of regular coursework and terminal examinations encourages students to maintain steady academic performance, their time management abilities, keep up with assignments, and meet community service obligations necessary for securing the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

Numerous high school subjects are provided by SIS and are taught in accordance with the requirements of the Ontario curriculum.
The emphasis of a well rated high school curriculum is on helping students become self-directed learners who can think critically and creatively.
Through involvement in a variety of activities, such as the arts, athletics, local and international field excursions, community service, academic-based organizations, and student interest groups, students also develop into well-rounded and globally aware individuals.

Students have several opportunities to develop leadership, advocacy, and agency in relation to regional and international issues through SIS’s Student Council and Model United Nations (MUN).

High School Academics

Core and elective subjects are both part of the curriculum in Ontario. Students at SIS High School can choose optional subjects based on their interests after completing the required core subjects.
There is only one elective subject for ninth graders.

As students advance through high school, the number of electives rises. Students can pursue their areas of interest and hone their decision-making abilities thanks to this approach.

Ontario Programs

Students in Sunway high school are prepared for college coursework. Students choose more specialized courses that cover complex ideas in depth and breadth. This level of high school coursework helps students improve their communication, research, analysis, and synthesis skills.
Based on their interests, skills, and intended academic and professional paths, students are given advice on choosing their disciplines.

Continuous formative assessments offer essential information and feedback to aid students in improving and filling in any learning gaps rather than a single large exam at the end of the year.

At Sunway College Kuala Lumpur, where it is known as the Canadian International Matriculation Program, SIS students complete Grade 12 there (CIMP).

Students who successfully complete the Ontario Grade 12 program get the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), a pre-university credential that is recognized internationally.

High School Development Focus

The Ontario and IB curricula both promote overall student development. In addition to studying academic material, students are also expected to participate in community service projects and activities.

Guidance Center also helps students prepare for post-secondary education after they graduate from SIS. Students receive support with submitting university applications as well as guidance on how to investigate choices for professional and collegiate studies.
