The Faculty of Law has worked with partner universities in Asia and Europe to offer Summer Mobility Programs and conduct joint research in an effort to achieve international recognition. their facilities are prepared and set up to satisfy interest in conducting research comfortably.

Bachelor of Law with Honors

A recognized law degree to start a career in the legal sector is the Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) undergraduate program created by the Faculty of Law at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The courses have been created to give students the useful skills they need to succeed.

UKM Law Degree Requirements

  • Complete 12 years of elementary and secondary school; and
  • Obtain a high school diploma or another equivalent credential, such as a higher secondary certificate, senior secondary school graduation certificate, tawjihiyah, or ijazah sekolah menengah atas; and
  • Meet the faculty’s minimum English requirement
    • IELTS band 6.0
    • TOEFL (iBT) 60-93
    • TOEFL (PBT) 498-583
  • Passing the UKM interview (if necessary); and
  • Satisfy the requirements of the faculty;

Master

Master of Law (Research)

The benefit of postgraduate study is that it gives you the opportunity to enter the workforce with new skills and knowledge. They specialize in teaching, with an emphasis on addressing real problems, so you’ll gain a broad range of crucial abilities that can be quite useful when advancing your profession.

Only thesis or dissertation writing is used to complete these programs. The Faculty Academician will assist applicants in writing a thesis or dissertation throughout their study time, either as a Supervisor, Joint Supervisor, or member of the Graduate Supervisory Committee.

Master of Law (Coursework/Mixed-Mode)

Candidates may enroll in a variety of courses in the Master of Laws program (coursework mode and mixed mode). After completing the necessary courses for the Mixed Mode, candidates will get guidance from the Faculty’s Academician in the form of a Supervisor, Joint Supervisor, or a member of the Graduate Supervisory Committee on how to prepare a dissertation.

Program Requirements

Requirements for admission to the Masters Degree program:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree with a good Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from the University or any higher learning institution recognized by the Senate; or
  2. Degree in medicine or dentistry from a university or other higher education institution, or a degree that is equivalent from another higher education institution that has been approved by the Senate; or
  3. other credentials acknowledged by the Senate that was attained through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL);
  4. Fulfills other requirements prescribed by the program (where applicable).

English Language Proficiency Requirements

1. An international applicant must meet the following requirements for English language proficiency:

obtained TOEFL (550), IELTS (6.0), or MUET (4.0) scores that meet the minimum score or band requirements outlined by the program; or

For some programs, a candidate must take and pass an English Proficiency Test (EPT) before being allowed to register for the study program. If the candidate does not pass the EPT at the level required by the program, he or she must attend and pass the English Proficiency Module (EPM) in a maximum of two (2) semesters. The applicant must enroll as a Non-Graduating Student.

2. For the international applicant who meets the following criteria, the Faculty/Institute may relieve them from the requirements listed in sub-regulation (1):

a. will write his or her thesis or dissertation in Malay or Arabic;

b. possesses academic credentials from any regional university that the Senate has recognized; or

c. He or she has academic credentials from any higher education institution that employs English as the primary language of teaching or is a native of a nation where English is the official language.

The candidate may be excluded from the conditions outlined in sub-regulation (2), but he or she must still take the English Proficiency Test (EPT) and, if unsuccessful in reaching the level required by the program, must attend and successfully complete the English Proficiency Module (EPM).

The candidate may be exempted from the requirements stated in sub-regulation (2), but the candidate shall sit for the English Proficiency Test (EPT) and if he/she fails to obtain the level specified by the program, the candidate is required to attend and pass the English Proficiency Module (EPM).
