The creation of Electronic took place in 1978 within the Department of Physics in the Faculty of Science at University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

In 1982, UKM Electric and Electronics Engineering gained full department status. It was established as a part of the Faculty of Engineering on November 1, 1984, which was also founded concurrently.

The Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Systems Engineering has since relocated to level 2 of the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment.

Since its establishment, the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Systems Engineering at UKM has committed to producing proficient and knowledgeable engineers.

The department has undergone steady growth and development over the years. Starting as a small division within the Department of Physics, it has evolved into a full-fledged department.

Bachelor of Electric and Electronics

These two degrees (Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Electronic Engineering) allow students to zero in on their field of concentration starting from their first year of study.

In 2013, the curriculum for both programs underwent revisions to comply with the standards set by the Board of Engineers, ensuring the graduates receive recognition as engineers in the field of electrical and electronic engineering.
