The UKM Faculty of Pharmacy, respected and fully accredited, has been providing undergraduate and graduate degrees since 1995. The Malaysian Pharmacy Board (LFM) has approved their BPharm(Hons) program, which has graduated skilled pharmacists who have secured a high percentage of employment as licensed pharmacists.

Campus Location

The distance from the center of Kuala Lumpur City Centre and the Petronas Twin Towers to their campus, which is situated on Jalan Raja Muda Abdul Aziz, is about 2.5 kilometers. The Chow Kit Monorail Station is close to their campus as well.

Academic Admission

Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honors)

Future pharmacists can enroll in the full-time Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours program provided by the pharmacy faculty at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

Pharmacy is an interdisciplinary field that combines knowledge of medical and health sciences, drug chemistry, medication formulation, illness prevention and management, all of which contribute to patient care.
The latter years of your education will also teach you how to manage patient medication therapy, analyze the quality of drug goods, and manufacture drugs as you build your foundation on these fundamental information.

You will receive hands-on instruction in the production of pharmaceuticals, pharmacy business management, the provision of pharmacy-related services in hospital and community settings, the therapeutic management of actual patients, and the application of pharmacy-related policies during the immersive final year training. All of these experiences will give you the knowledge and abilities necessary to manage medication quality while putting a strong emphasis on patient care.

Year 1

Introduction to the pharmacy profession, Human Biochemistry, Formulation Sciences, Chemistry of Drugs, Basic Pharmacology and Toxicology, Microbiology, Dosage Design & Development I, Drug Design & Development, Professional Communication, and Patient Education. Scientific Basis of Diseases.

Year 2

Dosage Design & Development II, Pharmacology of the Peripheral Nervous System, Pharmacotherapy of Endocrine Disorders, and Autacoids
Dosage Design & Development III, Spectroscopic Techniques for Drug Analysis, Traditional and Complementary Medicines, Approach to Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacotherapy of Infection, Infestation & Immune Disorders, Pharmacotherapy of Renal and Genitourinary Disorders, Pharmacopoeia Methods for Drug Analysis, and Legislation, Ethics and Policies in Pharmacy.

Year 3

Pharmacy Practice in the Community, Specialized Pharmacy Services I, Pharmaceutical Care of Special Population, Research Project I, Pharmacotherapy of Central Nervous System Disorders, Pharmacotherapy of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Disorders, Statistics and Research Methodology, Quality Assurance of Pharmaceutical, Pharmacotherapy of Gastrointestinal Disorders, Pharmacotherapy of Musculoskeletal and Integumentary Disorders, Pharmacotherapy of Oncology and Hematology, Specialized Pharmacy Services II.

Year 4

Industrial pharmacy, public health pharmacy, specialized pharmacy services clerkship, pharmaceutical industrial training, medicine management and community pharmacy clerkship, clinical pharmacy and pharmacotherapeutic clerkship are all topics included in the second research project.

For Malaysian nationals

SPM

A minimum grade of B is required in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and one other subject.

For non-citizens

proficient in Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Inggeris, and Sejarah, a minimum grade of C is required.

Postgraduate Studies

In order to keep pharmacists up to date with new clinical ideas and developments in professional training, the Faculty of Pharmacy at UKM offers a wide range of seminars and structured programs.
For those who are really interested in studying cutting-edge pharmaceutical research fields but are not pharmacists, our postgraduate programs are also available.

To explore individual educational interests and the suitability of program participation, prospective students are urged to get in touch with our head of program.

Master Of Clinical Pharmacy (MPharm Clin)

The Master of Clinical Pharmacy (MPharm. Clin.) program is intended to train pharmacists to provide specialized clinical pharmacy services in a variety of clinical settings.
Students will get the chance to pick up specialized knowledge and abilities in pharmacotherapy and clinical pharmacy practice through this course.

In the center of Kuala Lumpur, at the UKM Jalan Raja Muda Campus, are our instructional facilities.
You will learn in our top-notch laboratory, mock manufacturing plant, active learning & clinical pharmacy simulation suites, on-campus community pharmacy, and cutting-edge teaching hospital over the course of your four-year journey with us (Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz).

Center of Kuala Lumpur

  • The city campus offers a great deal of diversity in addition to the typical on-campus amenities. These include the library and cafés, with quick access to a variety of interesting locations such restaurants, bars, shopping centers, parks for recreation, theaters, and art galleries.
  • Postgraduate students are not now able to live on campus. However, you can find private off-campus housing before you arrive with the help of a guide from the Faculty of Pharmacy Postgraduate Student Society.
  • The program’s goal is to create clinical pharmacists who are able to offer specialized pharmaceutical services in both hospital and community settings.
  • They design their curriculum to equip pharmacists with the skills and knowledge. These skills are necessary for collaboration with other medical professionals to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Students can involve themselves in research projects across a range of fields. These include clinical pharmacy, pharmacy education, paediatric pharmacy, geriatric pharmacy, community pharmacy practice, and pharmacoeconomics.
  • All clinical clerkships occur at their teaching hospital, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz in Cheras, Malaysia, renowned for its high-quality patient- and family-centered care, and outcome-based research treatments.
  • Students also have the opportunity to join the postgraduate society to enjoy expanded networking, professional development, and educational opportunities.

Clinical Research Project I, Advanced Pharmacotherapeutics I, Applied Pharmacokinetics, Research Methodology, and Biostatistics.

Term 2

Pharmacy Practice in Community Pharmacy, Advanced Pharmacotherapeutics II, Advanced Pharmacotherapeutics III, Advanced Pharmacotherapeutics IV, and Clinical Research Project II.

Compulsory Clerkships

Internal medicine, pediatrics, and intensive care pharmacy clerkships are all available.

Elective Clerkships
