Program Structure

Research Methodology
- Students are required to pass the Research Methodology modules (6 credit hours) in the first year of their candidature.

Food Science and Nutrition
This comprehensive area is looking for new information into probiotics, live ‘friendly’ bacteria. These areas protect and prevent disease, food supplements, nutraceuticals, encapsulation controlled release of food bioactive components, and enhanced processing technologies.
Health Sciences
This area of study includes infectious illness research, which focuses on disease-causing pathogens and the medications or chemicals that kill or slow them down. This cluster also targets societal health issues, particularly biological mechanisms in the progression and treatment of diabetes and cancer.
Applied Biodiversity
This area of research looks into how biological resources are used and protected. The use of this knowledge helps to more environmentally friendly utilization and protection of biological resources in fields. These are environmental management, bioremediation, aquatic and plant biotechnology, and industrial chemistry.
Entry Requirements
- With CGPA equal or more than 2.75 with research project component in related field or 2 years working experience in Science related industry; OR
- With CGPA less than 2.75 but more than 2.50, candidates will be subject to rigorous internal assessment; OR
- With a CGPA less than 2.50 but more than 2.00, recognized by the Malaysian or National Government, AND a minimum of 5 years related working experience; OR
- Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government or accepted by the Taylor’s University Senate. Any of the above conditions would require student’s research proposal to be approved
International Students
- For international students: IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL 40 (Internet Based Test) (May join IEN preparatory course and achieve the IELTS score) The validity of the IELTS or equivalent is within 2 years from the date of the examination.
