Program Outline

APU BSc in Multimedia Technology aims to teach students:

  • Comprehensive understanding of multimedia theories, tenets, and technology.
  • The expertise and activities essential for roles in the multimedia sector, be it as a creator, animator, or model designer.
  • Abilities needed to create 3D modeling and animations, digital audio, videos, and akin artistic resources.

Degree Level 1

In year 1, students will obtain essential abilities needed for technical multimedia roles, along with foundational view into programming and system architecture. Selected specialized courses introduce foundational multimedia methods, including 3D visuals and digital imaging, among others. These courses also increase individual and team skills  while encouraging creative thinking and innovative approaches. Additionally, the course emphasizes the dynamic presentation of multimedia in virtual and augmented reality, as showed in the Introduction to VRAR.

Degree Level 2

In year 2, students will learn more skills, especially in animation, sound, and visuals. APU will help them think more creatively and learn on their own, readying them for jobs. Also, they will talk about the importance of not copying digital content.

Degree Level 3

Drawing from their past studies and practical experience, students will increase their understanding of multimedia technology while improves both personal and professional growth. They will learn media scripting technology and advanced multimedia methodologies. Moreover, students must evaluate user perspectives and feedback, considering aspects like social and economical backgrounds, cultural differences, and regional factors in User Experience, HCI, and Usability. Their final year project tasks them with addressing a real world challenge, showing their capability to combine technical expertise, critical reasoning, and analytical skills into a personal portfolio.

APU-DMU Dual Degree

Students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree Program are presented with the opportunity to join the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. By choosing this pathway, upon graduation, students will be awarded two Degree Certificates & Transcripts: one from Asia Pacific University (APU) in Malaysia and another from De Montfort University (DMU) in the UK.

Admission Requirements

General Requirements
Direct Entry to Level 1 of Degree
STPM • 2 Passes in STPM with minimum Grade C (GP 2.0) in any subject with a Pass in Mathematics at SPM.
• Pass an interview or a portfolio review.*Strong Mathematics would be an added advantage.
A-Level • 2 Passes in A-Level and with a Pass in Mathematics at SPM/O-Level/IGCSE or equivalent.
• Pass an interview or a portfolio review.*Strong Mathematics would be an added advantage.
UEC • 5 Grade B Passes in UEC in any subjects including a Pass in Mathematics.
• Pass an interview or a portfolio review.*Strong Mathematics would be an added advantage.
Foundation/ Matriculation • A pass in Matriculation or Foundation studies with minimum CGPA of 2.0 with a Pass in Mathematics at SPM/IGCSE/O-Level or its equivalent.
• Pass an interview or a portfolio review.
Direct Entry to Level 2 of Degree
ICT Related Diplomas • Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and a Pass in Mathematics at SPM/IGCSE/O-Level or its equivalent.
• Pass an interview or a portfolio review.

Note: Student with CGPA above 2.0 and below 2.5 may be accepted using rigorous assessment conducted by APU and subject to the approval of the Academic Board
