APU Master of Finance program expands your awareness of all important areas of financial decision making. Students will obtain an extensive understanding and training in, effective financial problem identification, analysis, and resolution. The Master of Finance program teaches financial economics as well as corporate finance. Important goals include familiarizing students with the major areas of study and research processes used in finance, as well as providing students with the general information needed to specialize in the specific field of finance.

The course of study is research driven and based on the principle of academic quality in action. Advanced both theoretical and empirical ideas in financial economics and business finance will be covered.

Program Outline

APU Master of Finance aims to teach students:

• A solid knowledge of making decisions theory and practice is required for dealing with today’s financial issues.
• A global awareness of the difficult financial environment and its major areas.
• A graduate must have specialized financial knowledge and skills to move from theory to real-world uses in order to be at the forefront of financial services.
• Finance related FinTech knowledge and technological skills.

Courses

This program consists of 10 academic courses (including 1 on research methodology) and a project. The courses were created to provide a basic understanding of financial principles as well as their application to different aspects of the finance business. Students are able to create financial plans independently, including Financial Analysis, Quantitative Methods, Investment Management, Financial Markets, and Corporate Finance.

Project

Students will be expected to perform excellent finance research for both academic and industry goals. The project will provide them  opportunity to research a financial topic and write a report on it. Students must develop their selected research study by doing literature reviews, engaging in research technique, and improving data gathering and analysis skills. At the end of the study, students will write and submit a report that follows academic style standards.

APU-DMU Dual Degree

Students enrolled in the Masters Degree Program will have the option to participate in the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Students will receive two Degree Certificates and Transcripts upon graduation under this Scheme: one from Asia Pacific University (APU) in Malaysia and one from De Montfort University (DMU) in the United Kingdom.

Admission Requirements

General Requirement

Bachelor’s degree with minimum CGPA of 2.75 out of 4.00, or its equivalent qualification as acceptable by the Senate.

Bachelor’s degree in related field with CGPA below 2.75 out of 4.00 but above 2.50; or its equivalent qualification can be accepted, subject to a minimum of 5 years’ working experience in relevant field.

Relevant professional accounting qualifications equivalent to a bachelor’s degree as accepted by the Senate.
