APLC English Summer Camp

The APLC Summer Camp allows you to experience the culture of this wonderful nation, which is also well-known as “Truly Asia,” while visiting the landmarks of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The Asia Pacific Language Centre (APLC), as part of the program, also gets you ready for an enjoyable English-learning experience called Learn English the Fun Way!

The package includes

  • English Study Program (Approximately 102 hours)
  • English Preparation Books & Learning Materials

  • Twin Sharing Accommodation at On-Campus Accommodation

​APU English Package Programs

The 7 levels of the Intensive English Program are designed to take students from a finished basic level to being ready to successfully complete an advanced course. Based on their performance on the APU English Competency Test, students will be assigned to one of these seven levels:

Learning Time

  • Modules: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking
  • Contact hours in class: 4 hours daily
  • Online English: 2 hours daily (Self-Study)
  • Total Learning Time: 102 hours

Available Levels

  • Level Starter – Basic
  • Level 1 – Beginners
  • Level 2 – Elementary
  • Level 3 – Pre-Intermediate
  • Level 4 – Intermediate
  • Level 5 – Upper-Intermediate
  • Level 6 – Advanced

Four essential skills receive particular focus at each Level:

  • LEVEL STARTER (Designed for students with almost ZERO English proficiency)
    Reading & Writing (RW), Speaking and Listening (SSP), Grammar (GRM) & Vocabulary Enhancement (VE)
  • LEVEL 1-6 (Embedded grammar in all skills)

General English

Your grammar, listening, conversational, reading, and writing skills will all be enhanced by taking this course. Your self-assurance and proficiency in using the English language for business and study will increase.

Upon completing this course, you will be able to:

  • apply English to basic everyday situations
  • make use of simple information such as announcements, instructions, directions
  • apply the use of basic English grammar
  • read and write simple messages and texts

IELTS Preparation

You can prepare for the IELTS test with the help of IELTS Preparation (Academic). The course closely mimics the IELTS format and equips you with the interactive learning tools and topic-specific English skill development needed to effectively try each section of the exam.

A group of IELTS teachers and examiners created all of the study activities for this course utilizing real-world resources and a plethora of suggestions and guidance.

The course is structured around various people and situations, and Oska, your mentor, will lead you through your studies while exposing you to a variety of experiences along the way.

  • identify and interpret graphs and tables
  • use appropriate language to report statistical information
  • write a description of graphic information
  • identify the main features of a paragraph and write structured paragraphs
  • recognize and use language structures or various essay styles
  • plan and write an academic essay using a variety of styles

Writing

  • identify and interpret graphs and tables

Speaking

A 16-hour workshop is offered by APLC to help students get ready for the IELTS test. The 16-hour IELTS workshop costs RM960.

Executive Writing

In the context of working with WebFurn, an online furniture company, students will gain a variety of executive writing skills as part of the broad learning experience offered by executive writing.

You will start the training with a position at WebFurn as a Sales Manager. You will develop your ability to communicate in an executive business setting and your knowledge of business terminology and procedures in this position. You’ll be required to read and practice writing a variety of business materials. Additionally, you’ll get the chance to listen to texts while learning how to take notes from them. Presentations resume, and a number of other papers will be requested of you.

The course is organized around a number of tasks, each of which is divided into several activities. The course can be done at your own pace even though it was designed to mirror four weeks of work at WebFurn. You have the option of working rapidly through this brief, intensive course or more slowly.

after completing this course, you will be able:

  • read and understand business texts
  • write a range of business correspondence, including business emails, faxes, memos, letters, agendas, meeting notes, quotes, presentations, and contracts of sale
  • listen to and take notes from, voicemail messages
  • participate in and administer business meetings
  • perform a wide range of business tasks and functions as a business executive

Academic Research and Writing Techniques

The second kind of part-time course we provide is a curriculum that has been specially designed to fulfill the needs of college-level academic writing and research skills. In order to help course participants develop and enhance their academic writing and research skills, this program will combine an interactive, student-centered manner of delivery with a process-oriented approach. You must attend evening classes for this course.

  • understand paragraph and essay organization
  • understand various patterns of essay organization
  • support ideas with specific and factual details
  • use quotations, paraphrases, and summaries to quote the work and others
  • understand academic in-text citation and referencing to avoid committing plagiarism
  • understand and use different types of sentence patterns to create a smooth flow in writing
  • understand common and regular sentence errors to achieve clarity in writing
