Program Description

APU BSc in industrial Design represents the specialized practice of creating products that become an integral part of daily life for countless individuals globally. The main concern of industrial designers is not just the visual appearance and value of a product, but also its manufacturing process and user experience. Every item you use at home has a different designing, filled with countless decisions, all with the goal of enhancing your life through thoughtful design.

In their professional roles, industrial designers often collaborate within diverse teams, each member bringing their expertise to the table. Such teams consist of strategists, engineers, UI designers, project overseers, brand specialists, graphic artists, consumers, and producers. The combination of these varied viewpoints helps the design group to learn an issue comprehensively, and then issues a solution tailored to the specific requirements of the user.

At their core, industrial designers shape the ideas for products that APU often take for granted, be it vehicles, household gadgets, or even toys. They artfully intertwine the field of art, commerce, and engineering to birth everyday commodities. In their design process, they weigh aspects like functionality, aesthetics, cost-efficiency, and user-friendliness.

During the initial two years, students are introduced to a broad spectrum of skills, ranging from traditional to digital sketching and from concept visualization to its tangible realization. Additionally, they learn various foundational theories and insights pivotal in the Industrial Design domain. Students then have the autonomy to specialize in their preferred niche, be it Product Design, Transport Design, Furniture Design, or Sustainable Design.
