APU BA International Relations is an academic program focusing on important global concerns, issues, and political strategies. The program’s purpose is to train highly trained professionals with many years of experience in the social sciences. APU offers many courses that focus on global issues, dealing with developing countries and developing Asian governments. This three year undergraduate program will give students the theoretical and practical framework of international relations, preparing students for a variety of professional options.
Program Outline
APU BA International Relations is specifically designed to teach students :
- Familiarity with a broad range of theoretical and conceptual framework of international relations and how they are applied.
- Exposure to global political, economy and sustainability issues and to provide solutions through critical debate.
- Practical and academic skills which include independent judgement, self-reflection, effective communication and an ability to work in teams and with diverse stakeholders.
Degree Level 1
In year 1, Students are going to gain knowledge and awareness of historical events and global developments in the field of international relations. Furthermore, students will be familiar with political ideologies, global political issues and the impact of significant changes in international matters.

Degree Level 2
In year 2, Students will learn about theoretical and conceptual framework, the importance of international organizations, global economic gaps, the role of little power in politics, and environmental policies. Using academic sources and government documents, Year 2 presents a wide overview of fundamental theoretical issues. Students will also get familiar to comparison analytical abilities and will develop knowledge and ability in applying the skills to inform their understanding in both written and spoken presentations.

Internship
To bridge the gap between academic and professional worlds, students will undergo an Internship or Industrial Training for at least 16 weeks. This ensures they transition smoothly from academic settings to real world job.
Degree Level 3
In year 3, Students are going to use what they have learned in previous semesters as well as their work experience to expand and improve their knowledge of international relations as part of their personal and professional growth. The final year project wants them to research and solve a real world problem, they will show their ability to combine fundamental knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical abilities to create a personal achievement profile.

APU-DMU Dual Degree
Students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree Program are presented with the opportunity to join the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. By choosing this pathway, upon graduation, students will be awarded two Degree Certificates & Transcripts: one from Asia Pacific University (APU) in Malaysia and another from De Montfort University (DMU) in the UK.
